To celebrate 50 years of the Mackinac Bridge, MDOT makes four commemorative posters available to public
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) today announced that four limited-edition posters of the mighty Mackinac Bridge are available online for purchase ($4 each/non-profits $3.77 each) commemorating the national icon.
“On Nov. 1, 1957, the Mackinac Bridge began serving Michigan residents by connecting our beautiful peninsulas,” said State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle. “Over time, the bridge has become a beloved Michigan landmark. We have captured some incredible images of the bridge that we would like to share with the public to commemorate this milestone.”
The posters will not be available in stores, but can be ordered by phone, fax or mail. Each order must be paid by check or credit card. Complete instructions on how to order the posters, including illustrations of each of the four designs, can be found on MDOT’s Web site www.michigan.gov/mackinacbridge (http://www.michigan.gov/mackinacbridge). Information about the posters also will be on display soon at all 13 of Michigan’s Welcome Centers.
In December of 1999, the American Society of Civil Engineers recognized the bridge as Michigan’s #1 civil engineering project of the 20th century.
