Snyder reappoints Gnodtke and Musser to Mackinac Bridge Authority
Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of William Gnodtke, of Charlevoix, and Dan Musser, of Petoskey and Mackinac Island, to the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
Established in 1950, the seven-member Mackinac Bridge Authority authorizes the employment of legal and financial services necessary to manage and finance bridge maintenance and repair projects.
“Bill and Dan have effectively served the Authority during the past six years and I am confident they will continue to do great work in overseeing one of Michigan’s most cherished landmarks,” said Snyder.
Prior to his retirement in 1997, Gnodtke formed Gnodtke & Associates, a governmental consulting and fundraising firm, and served many years in the Michigan House of Representatives, including service as aide to the Speaker of the House and Minority Leader, director of constituent relations and executive director of House minority staff. He is chairman of the Mackinac Bridge Authority and the Norwood Township Road Committee. Gnodtke holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Hillsdale College.
Musser represents the third generation of Musser family ownership and operation of the Grand Hotel. As president, he is responsible for the resort’s day-to-day operations which include overseeing the front desk and convention, food and beverage, sales and marketing, housekeeping, maintenance and recreation services. Musser is former chairman of the Michigan Hotel, Motel and Resort Association, current chairman of the Mackinac Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, president of the Mackinac Island Community Foundation and board member for the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau and Michigan Retailers Association. He earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Albion College.
Appointees will serve six-year terms that expire June 30, 2018, and their appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
