Mackinac Bridge Authority

Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Barbara Brown of St. Ignace and Patrick “Shorty” Gleason of Davison to the Mackinac Bridge Authority.

Housed in the Michigan Department of Transportation, the seven-member Mackinac Bridge Authority is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Mackinac Bridge.

“I am pleased to reappoint Barbara and Patrick to the Authority and I am confident in their expertise and experience to help oversee one of Michigan’s most cherished landmarks,” Snyder said.

Brown is now retired, but previously was an assistant attorney general within the Michigan Department of Attorney General’s office. Prior to her service in the Attorney General’s office, she was an administrative law judge and chief judge for the 92nd District Court. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Vermont and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She will continue to represent Democrats.

Gleason is the legislative director for the Michigan Building Trades Council. He previously was the president of the Michigan Building Trades Council, and business manager and financial secretary/treasurer of Iron Workers Local 25. Gleason attended Mott Community College. He will continue to represent Democrats.

Members serve six-year terms expiring June 30, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
