Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to the Mackinac Bridge Authority
Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Mike Zimmer of Dimondale and Kirk Steudle of South Lyon to the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
Established in 1950, the seven-member authority authorizes use of legal and financial services necessary to manage and finance bridge maintenance and repair projects.
“After working with both Mike and Kirk for years, I have seen firsthand their commitment to our state. I am confident their expertise will be a great asset to the Mackinac Bridge Authority and one of Michigan’s greatest infrastructure accomplishments,” Snyder said.
Zimmer currently serves as cabinet director for the Executive Office of Governor Rick Snyder. Previously, he worked as the director of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Zimmer earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his law degree from George Washington University. He will represent Republicans and replace Daniel Musser III.
Steudle is the director of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), a position he has held since 2006, and from which he is retiring on Oct. 31. He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Lawrence Technological University. He will represent Republicans and replace William Gnodtke.
Zimmer will serve a six-year term expiring June 30, 2024, and Steudle will serve a six-year term beginning Nov. 1, 2018 and expiring June 30, 2024. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
