Mackinac Bridge 50th anniversary DVD now available online for $10 at Michigan’s e-store
November 2, 2007 — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), in cooperation with the Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA), today announced that the Mackinac Bridge 50th anniversary video “Our Bridge at 50” is now available for purchase online through Michigan’s e-store located at www.michigan.gov/estore.
The 33-minute DVD celebrates the 50th anniversary of the opening of Michigan’s iconic Mackinac Bridge by combining historic live-action footage with modern-day interviews, capturing both the passion and legacy of the bridge backers, and the enthusiasm of the workers who braved high winds, strong currents, and deep, icy waters to build a bridge spanning the Straits of Mackinac.
“We are proud to offer this part of Michigan’s legacy to so many people,” said MDOT Director Kirk T. Steudle. “The stories told on the DVD do a fantastic job of presenting what it took to construct such an engineering marvel. The Mackinac Bridge is not only a Michigan landmark, but, it is a national icon we will continue to celebrate for years to come.”
The one-of-a-kind DVD was produced by MDOT, along with special assistance from the MBA. The $10 cost includes shipping charges and Michigan sales tax.
