Mackinac Bridge Authority ensures commuter discounts remain for frequent users
At its regular board meeting last week, the Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) Board unanimously approved changes to the commuter program which will ensure continued discounts for those with commuter card accounts.
Effective immediately, the one-time cost for establishing (or opening) an account will go from $5 to $10 per card. Additionally, commuter card users will now need to deposit a minimum of $80 each time, up from $40. MBA officials noted the increased set-up fee is necessary to achieve administrative efficiencies and retain reasonable commuter discounts available to those that cross often each week.
Commuter card accounts can be established by visiting the MBA administrative offices in St. Ignace near the toll booths. Current commuter card customers are required to make the new minimum deposit, the next time money is added to their account.
