Paper scrip accepted for toll at Mackinac Bridge through Sept. 30
September 17, 2003 – – The Mackinac Bridge Authority today announced it will accept paper scrip, used as payment for bridge tolls, through September 30, 2003. The MBA stopped selling paper scrip early last year and has since promoted the use of debit cards, commuter cards and commuter tokens as convenient options for customers.
“However, we will exchange the paper scrip until the end of the year at the business office,” said MBA Chief Financial Officer Mike Litzner. “Customers will be offered an opportunity to deposit their paper scrip into a debit or commuter card account.”
Paper scrip will no longer be accepted by the MBA beginning January 2004.
The paper scrip program timeline is as follows:
April 1, 2002 – Sales of paper scrip discontinued; Sept. 30, 2003 – Deadline for accepting paper scrip as bridge toll; Dec. 31, 2003 – Deadline for exchanging paper scrip at MBA offices.
NOTE: Commuter scrip can be exchanged for commuter tokens until December 31, 2003.
