West Graham Ave., one of the access roads to Bridge View Park, to get new surface

The Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) today announced that a paving contractor will reconstruct West Graham Ave., north of the MBA toll plaza in St. Ignace, during the week of September 17 in Mackinac County.

The winning $36,623 bid was submitted by Payne and Dolan. The contractor has two weeks to complete the work. Motorists looking to head to Bridge View Park must use the access road off of US-2 exclusively, as many people currently do.

West Graham Ave. has been abandoned, but will be maintained by the MBA, according to a legal agreement.

Besides creating a smoother ride for motorists, the road improvement project will allow the MBA to safely get high-profile southbound vehicles off of I-75 during partial wind closures. The road could become part of a future development of a truck holding/weighing station as well.
